Mr. Dependable...

Meet Mr. Dependable: my scale

He's been with me through two house moves, many attempts of Weight Watchers, Atkins, and every other diet ever invented and of course he was there for my official pre-op weigh-in of 256 lbs.

That's over five years of weigh-ins.  I've never used my surgeon's scale for my official Friday weigh-ins, only Mr. Dependable.

He's always been consistent and accurate in the past.

But lately, I think Mr. Dependable is getting tired.  Or cranky.

Even though I've replaced his batteries, the weigh-ins can vary by 5+ lbs within seconds (I know that I'm not the only one who weighs in and then steps off and then steps right back on just to make sure the first weight was "accurate"....right?)

And don't forget that crazy low weigh-in the day after Thanksgiving was a bit too good to be true: 137.9 lbs.  That was nice though.

So it's time to get a new scale.

What scale do you have?

Brand? Type? What do you recommend? Please let me know. I have a special preference for scales that tell me that I'm clever and pretty.  Wait...scales that do that? I think I've just come up with my next idea to be patented.

PS: I have a Bed, Bath & Beyond coupon burning a hole in my pocket.

  1. I have The Eatsmart Precision Plus (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0032TNPOE/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details) and I love it!!!

  2. Well, my scale is an older carryover from my days of Medifast dieting. It still works so I won't be buying a new one anytime soon. Good luck I bet Amazon will have some good reviews on quite a few of them out there and by all means use that BBB coupon...gotta love a discount!

P.S. - YOU are NOT the only one who double-checks their scale. LOL. I only take a weight if I get it 3 times in a row. Don't know what it is about 3, but almost always my scale gives me the exact same number 3 times consistently, so I figure it must still be doing good.

  3. I have a Tanita UM-061. Never had a problem with it. It's always measured accurately (actually it's always been within 2 pounds of my doctor's scale). And I just replaced the battery for the first time in, um, 5 or 6 years. I don't pay much attention to the water and BF%...I think the water% varies widely with how dehyrated you are, so I really take that measurement with a grain of salt (no pun intended). But yeah, I like it.

  4. I have a Weight Watchers scale too which has been great. I also have a cheap Health O Meter scale because I go between two places. Both are accurate. I always weigh right before I go to WW meetings. Am I weird because I don't get back on the scale after weighing the first time? :(

  5. I can't remember the brand I have but it was "the Biggest Loser" scale. It was the one that was on sale when I needed one, but it has been quite reliable so far.

  6. I cannot remember the brand of my scale, but it was about $40 and G bought it online. It has BMI, Body Fat percentage all that. I love it. I track my weigh in as well as my fat percentage each week which helps when I have a lower loss week, if my fat percentage goes down too that means that my body may be building muscle!
