It is one thing to slam something out of ignorance, but it is a whole other thing to devote this much time and energy against something (and a group of people) that has nothing to do with you.
I had a bad time with weight loss meds and I don't understand why anyone would want to take them. But other people are different from me, so why on earth would I campaign to abolish them?? I just don't get it.
I'm not thrilled that I got to a point where I felt I need a surgical option to help me conquer obesity. But I'm so thankful it was available to me. Sometimes I get slightly frustrated that I haven't lost more, but without it I would be AT LEAST 80 pounds heavier and if I'm really honest with myself, I might not even be alive.
Wow.. Just Wow. I will agree with the bit in the first article about the prevalence of billboards. I think WLS is something that needs to be discussed with your doctor, not just driving along and "yeah, I think I'll do that". And the story about the lady committing suicide? How can you attribute that to WLS? I'm going to assume there were other issues at play too. If all your girlfriends abandoned you, maybe you weren't a good friend? I dunno.
I'm with Beth Ann, I'm only 3 months out, and lost 30ish pounds, wish it was more/faster, but I <3 my Band. It's more than I was ever able to do on my own!
WTH?! I don't get it..... Whatever. I mean we all knew what the potential dangers were when we signed up... and all of those symptoms seem to me like the could have been avoided.... People are beyond irritating. IGNORANCE!
What an unenlightening article. A waste of time and energy as far as I am concerned. She sounds like a miserable human being and more than anything, that is sad.

ReplyDeleteI have no tolerance for crap like what that woman wrote. It just shows that some people can get paid to be morons.
