Big Sexy!

TLC has a new show starting tomorrow night called "Big Sexy."

Here's the show's description from their website/Facebook:
TLC is introducing a special, three-part series called Big Sexy.

Big Sexy focuses on the plus-size world, following around five fabulous ladies in NYC and offering an inside look at their lives.

Plot Outline:
“Each episode will feature the women as they attend major industry events, parties and opportunities, all while giving a candid peek into the balancing of their personal, dating and family relationships as plus-size women. They are big, they are beautiful, and they are not sitting at home waiting for life to happen. They know better than anyone that real women can be sexy with curves — no matter what society says.

I totally agree that all ladies should feel confident and beautiful no matter their size or shape.  But I just can't help wondering...will they show the negative health effects of being a plus sized gal?  I doubt it.
So go set your DVR.
I can't wait to see it.

  1. Don't we already have enough negative effects shown regarding obesity? I kind of dig the fact that its showing that women are comfortable as big girls. And some just happen to be okay with being a big girl. But I'm sure if its semi-realty -- then they will capture moments where the negative situations come into play... either someone suggesting they lose weight, a situation of someone talking about their weight, etc. Since well it is surrounding the fact that their overweight. It will come up somewhere.

  2. I am so tired of reality TV! I am sorry LOL I watch very little TV so I am very choosy. They can claim to be happy at their weights, and maybe they are happy. Because Happy is after all a state of mind not a place. But,for me I know that I feel much sexier when I am not a size 28 :)

  3. I view this as another vehicle for facilitating fat acceptance in the greater society. Let's face it...some of us will always be fat, negative health effects or not. I want to have surgery, but it's cost-prohibitive for me. I'll probably always be this size because I've tried every diet under the sun and can't lose much nor keep the weight off. There comes a point when some large people need to start accepting themselves and trying to be the healthiest they can be. I for one would find that so much easier with a little more societal acceptance of large people, so I hope this show will help with that just a little bit.

  4. I am happy that I am losing weight! Thrilled! But I am also happy that these girls seem to be happy! Wonder what the issues are that they aren't showing on tv. Everyone has them! I will catch an episode for sure!

  5. I agree with Manda. I think its a great thing because I spent a better part of my life not allowing myself to be sexy because of my weight AND I WAS THIN. Breaking stereo types is very important but allowing us to love ourselves is even more important. I think the society has this idea that fat people should not be allowed to be happy or love themselves because, wow we should punish them for being fat and all that stereotype entails. Whats worse si we do it to ourselves also.

  6. wow, thats all I can say.

It amazes me that people are going to glorify being overweight.

  7. I was thinking the exact same thing this weekend when I saw the preview!
