Careful What You Ask For

I believe that I may have arrived in the Red Zone folks and I don't like it.
Thank you for commenting on my stuck/PB post here on the blog and on Facebook.  Your tips on carrying a Ziploc baggie and/or napkins are appreciated. I'm officially in the PB club now I guess.

It is so weird that a fill for me can often take up to a week to kick-in.  Anyone else have this experience?

After my fill on Thursday afternoon, my restriction felt the same as before the fill.  Therefore, I partied like a rock star (a fat girl rock star to be specific) and ate my way through Friday and Saturday with visits to Taco Bell and Dairy Queen (Tsk! Tsk!).  Then the show-stopper was the vitamin stuck/PB on Saturday night.

Water, protein shakes and ice cream were slow going down on Sunday and Monday.

Therefore, as a result, I saw an all time low on the scale this morning: 136.4 lbs.  That's too low (a crazy thought!) as I would rather be in between 140lbs and 145lbs.

The purpose of the band for me is to eat less of any type of food that is offered or available.  I have never wanted to be limited with my food choices.  Unfortunately, that is where I have taken my band.  I chose to get a fill.

I am going to see how things go this week with this fill level.  I am going to focus on de-stressing at work and taking my allergy pill which both help loosen things up.  If that doesn't work, I will go get that unfill.

Wish me luck!

  1. Oh Lord sweetie! Please keep us posted! I hope it gets better. Being too tight sucks big time!

  2. I am in the same spot! But I am sick and hormonal and 1 month after a fill and I am hoping that this is the reason for not being able to eat! I am okay but I don't want to do damage! Keep us up dated about what you decide!!

  3. I am getting a fill today after I had some out. I'm so stressed about how much to get in. How much did you get in on your last fill and what do you have in your band total? I too have a delayed reaction to a fill, I always find that right after one, I'm starving and then in a week or so, I'm like...wow, I have a band! Hope you feel better soon!

  4. I hpe you feel better and I'm sorry you finally had to join the "Stuck" club. When it comes to preparing, I've learned never to eat while I'm in the car or before I am about to go anywhere and I have a mental list of food I consider "Danger" foods that I just won't attempt in public and even then rarely at home (Brocoli and Romaine Lettuce). I hope you feel much better soon!

  5. I hope you feel better! I do not have that problem after a fill but this last one that I got was the first time I actually PB'ed. I never want that to happen again. Learn what sets you off and go from there. That is what I am trying and so far it seems to be working.

  6. I hope you feel better and this stuff get sorted out. The pill and stuck episode might have irritated things so take it easy for a few days. Some things to try (I learned by trial and error--mostly error). Eat less than you normally would (back way off on the quantity). Also try chewing more.

I don't know what to tell you about the vitamin issue..you might need a chewable? I have to really watch my pill sizes but discovered that most of my pb/stuck episodes were from plain old trying to eat too much. Once I figured that out I could go back to eating anything.

    LUCK!!

  8. I hope you feel better. I got my second fill last week and was told to take allergy meds to ease some of the tightness.

  9. I feel for you. I was in the red and basically started getting stuck on EVERYTHING....banana--yep, greek yogurt--yep..protein drinks even hurt a bit, etc. Give it a day or two more but maybe a .5cc unfill? maybe i missed a post but why did you get the fill in the first place? it seems like your maintanance has been going great.

  10. I hope you are feeling better. I had my first episode a couple of weeks ago in the back of a van full of people. English muffins, though tastey are not so good when eaten quickly.

  11. Unfills can be scary - I have been debating with myself for over a month now about getting one but just when I think ok, I will - my band loosens up - it has a mind of its own!

    Hope you feel better soon!

  12. I hope that you are doing better...other wise, you probably should get a small unfill. And YES, I did go into a full blown stuck episode right after I finished commenting on your last post!! LOL

  13. I haven't been able to comment for weeks (d*mn Blogger).

OMG, if I didn't love you enough before, I REALLY do now!!! I know I'm a tester and push the rules person BUT...NO PB's??!!!...EVER??!!! It just isn't right (yes, my petty self wants company). Welcome to the club...yes, that was your initiation sweetie!

Like you said, your stoma is now swollen so take it easy on it for a few days and things may settle down for you...my mistake with the unfill...not taking it slow/careful after a PB...it can escalate quickly.

    Feel better!

  14. Good luck! I'll pass the same advice back to you that you gave me - can you do a couple of days of liquids and see how you feel?
