I can sense your presence.
Are you a lurker?
Yep, I'm calling YOU out.
The best way to get the most out of YOUR journey to improved health: give back to the online community that you frequently visit.
So, here's my request to YOU:
START A BLOG.
Don't roll your eyes at me.
I'm serious.
You can be very anonymous with your blog, make up a super secret alias name, post NO pics or pics of your head cut off, and blog away to your heart's content. Here's one great example of this type of blog: Meet FLUFFY.
OR
You can spill all the beans about your life in full detail and show us pictures of your family, friends, outfits, struggles, successes, etc.
It's your choice to blog about whatever YOU want. You reveal what you want. It's up to YOU.
Don't worry about spelling, grammar, or any other "rules." A blog is a safe place for you to talk about whatever you want.
For me, there are a few things that I don't blog about:
To start your blog, go HERE. Fill it out and off you'll go into the blogosphere!
I want to read about your journey. Really, I do. We all do.
I'll even do a shout-out to you on my blog to get you lots of followers. I love how that sounds slightly cult-like!
So, go start that blog and let me know the link. Because I'll be reading.

For me, I started my blog as a way to document my weight loss journey and most importantly to have ACCOUNTABILITY. Yep, those Friday weigh-ins are still very important to me and my success with the Lap-Band.

- I don't reveal my real name. This is the Internet people.
- My dating life. There's enough drama on that topic to start a whole other blog.

I started my blog because I loved yours so much! :-)
ReplyDeleteI did too!
DeleteAwesome you guys! Keep blogging :)
DeleteYou mean Lap Band Gal isn't your real name? :-O
ReplyDeleteSmart ass! :) love it.
DeleteThanks for the love you sent my way via Facebook. I love keeping up with you on here! Since I made the conscious decision to post my food choices every day having a blog is really helping me not to "cheat" on my diet. My hubby reads my blog and is the first to interrogate me if he thinks something doesn't sound right on my food diary. And I have all ya'll in internet land to thank for keeping me accountable (judging me/providing guilt trip) if I've got a day of poor food choices (snarfed my face on crap/hit the buffet).
ReplyDeleteThanks for unintentionally screwing my head on as straight as it can possibly be! :)
glad I could help ya out...it sure is a MENTAL game, isn't it? Hang in there :)
DeleteThanks LBG! I started my blog because you asked me if I had one....so I decided to make one ... 199 posts later and 102 followers later - my life is an open book...
ReplyDeleteI love reading peoples blogs. I have. Learned so much...good and bad. I started mine to keep me accountable, but also to share my story and maybe help someone else going on the same journey.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm... Are you watching ..ALL of us ... some of us are still here ... but being a little quite xxx
ReplyDeleteI blog and tend to tell all. I am horrible at keeping secrets, but there are things I don't blog about. I write knowing my kids and mom read my blog, so it keeps it pretty PG.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I felt like you were speaking directly to me since I've been lurking for a while - weird, I know.
ReplyDeleteSo I did it - here it is http://principalbandster.blogspot.com/2012/05/and-so-it-begins.html
Looks great Principal! Good for you!
DeleteAgreed! I just checked out your new blog Principal :)
DeleteYou are so inspiring.....how is it that you can motivate the masses to stick with the band, challenge ourselves, make us laugh, AND make those of us who are intimidated by blogging feel like we will be just fine.
ReplyDeleteYou are one amazing lady. Thank you.
Lurker here. I am going to give this some serious thought. I read a sh8t load of blogs and perhaps should give back. I am 21 months out and very happy with my journey. 80 pounds gone. It is that last freakin' 15 that are killing me. I try to reboot, but have gotten so complacent. I never thought I could lose this much or keep it off.
ReplyDeleteYou do inspire.
I only lurked for a month before I started mine!! You inspired me to start my blog and I couldn't be happier. It's amazing how much it has helped me. I'm learning things about myself I never knew (or chose to ignore) and it's scary, and hard and wonderful! I keep encouraging my friends to blog too but I think they are scared. I was too...I didn't think I had anything to say...I didn't think people wanted to read it. I was wrong!!! You are one of my most faithful readers! :) I however am an open book so I probably say more than I should regarding names and such... but oh well. :)
ReplyDeleteI started my blog last month, and I think you were my first follower...so thanks for that! I always read your blog to keep inspired...I just know I'll get there someday...so thanks for keeping up with your blog. It helps me, and makes me feel like I should be blogging more too!
ReplyDeleteSo, got banded yesterday. I'm up in the middle of the night getting pain meds and switching out ice packs and updated my blog ;)
ReplyDeleteGoing back to bed now......
I agree, start a blog you lurkers!
ReplyDeleteOk you caught me! I'm a lurker! I can't help it, I just don't think what I write would be interesting. I'm not a writer, what if people get bored? Why would they want to read it, would I have time. Just a few of the million thoughts that run through my head. I tried blogging once and I just don't seem to speak as eloquently as you do on your blog. Mine tends to have no flow, and I want it to look pretty! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI have been lurking, I have a blog but have fallen off the edge of life for a while!! It's time to come back.....
ReplyDeleteColor me busted. I've been lurking for awhile but I took your advice.
ReplyDeleteHere's my link: http://snarkyanna.blogspot.com
:)
Thanks for calling me out. I have been lurking and you motivated me to create a blog. So I did!! Thanks!! Http://www.chillinwiththeband.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteOk you caught me lurking too... I have been reading and following your updates for a while. Today I made my own blog too. I start my journey this week and can't wait to share with others.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help and motivation!

An instructive post. People to really know who they want to reach and why or else, they'll have no way to know what they're trying to achieve. People need to hear this and have it drilled in their brains..
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this great article.
