"You can’t cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore."

Where to begin?

OMG. So much to share!

Let's start with the amazing opportunity that I had to meet up with the one and only Nora from A Traveling Bandita.  She has lost over 128 pounds with a lot of hard work and her band.  A freaking rock star in my book!  She's a very lucky lady to be living in London. I'm so jealous. We spent almost two hours catching up over tea and coffee at a local cafe.  Nora has so many amazing trips coming up that she will soon tell us all about.  I can't wait!

Onwards to a London Non-Scale Victory (NSV)...Yes, please.  Every time that I was in London previously, I would visit Trafalgar Square and wish that I could climb up on the monuments like the other tourists.  But alas, I was never strong enough and/or too heavy.  Well, I can now say that I've climbed those monuments and alive today to tell the tale:

How about some food porn? Oh yeah.  Sign me up.

I can officially say that whoever coined that STUPID saying that "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" never enjoyed a traditional British caramel sticky toffee pudding with homemade vanilla ice cream and custard.  This is a horrible photo, 'cuz it kinda looks like a nasty hamburger patty, but oh no...I can say that this is the best dessert that I have ever eaten...in...my...entire...life.  I am already hunting down a recipe online to recreate it  If you have a a good recipe, please help this sista out:
Rich Caramel Sauce + Cake = PERFECTION
On the other hand, whoever did coin that stupid phrase, has indeed tasted a traditional full English breakfast.  Bleh.  I didn't even want to taste it.  And I didn't.

And just went you think that you've seen it all...while we were waiting for our return flight, Carnival dancers showed up in the duty free shopping mall at London Heathrow's Terminal One for an impromptu 15 minute performance.  They were crankin' out some serious moves.  A lot of Zumba moves to be specific.  I shoulda joined in, but unfortunately I had forgotten my feathers at home.  Darn.  I think that this performance was in celebration of Fat Tuesday.  By the way, what are you going to give up for Lent?  Church? Yeah, me too.

Lastly, here's a "before" (2006) and "now" (2012) comparison pic.  Yes, I know, my sad Photoshop skills have plateaued:

Overall, I had a fun and memorable time in London.  Why is it that vacations are never long enough?  I wish I could have stayed longer.  Oh well, time to start planning my next trip.  Where will I go next?  Anybody know how many days until Chicago BOOBs 3.0?

  1. Looks like you had a blast! One of my favorite place in the world is London! I have a pic of myself in a London phone booth from 2010 and we are going again this summer so I too will have a comparison...fun!

  2. I've been told that Kate Moss was the person who started that "stupid" saying. She might not have been in her right mind when she said it as I've also read about her drug escapades.

Neither of the photos look tempting but the first one does sound delicious. So glad you had a great trip.

  3. Beans for breakfast...eeww. Gald you had such a great time and got to meet Nora!

  4. Glad your trip was a success...and what about great minds thinking alike!!!;0)...In my attempt to gain some interest on my page, I quoted that very quote...of course with a different intent but so funny it has shown up 2x today...

Dryers used to make an ice cream "Sticky Toffe Pudding". They had a contest to see who could come up with a new flavor and the women who won entered that flavor. It was very good but it was a speaciality flavor years ago, I have not been able to find it in a while and funny enough Wally World was usually the only place I could find it!!! Hope you find the perfect recipe soon and glad your back safe!!

  5. Excellent! Looks like a great trip, Miss Thing. What a difference a lap band and jazzercise and all of your effort has made...

  6. Looks like a wonderful trip! Glad you had fun.

  7. It looks like you had a blast and I too want to climb up on monuments. You have inspired me to try next time!

  8. Let me just start by saying how jealous I am that you have gotten to meet Nora in person. I think she is an awesome person and really hope to meet her someday. Second I am jealous due to your trip to England period.....I can't wait to get to go. Congrats on the NSV.

  9. Looks like you had a great trip! And how great that you got to meet up with Nora!

  10. Love it!! So fun you were able to meet up with Nora! She is another rockstar!! Great pics :) I used to live in Cambridge for a short work stint. That breakfast picture brought back BADDDD memories. LOL

  12. geezzzz and so I finally mange to post a comment and I make a really big typo!!!!!

Again with the correct stuff: You look and sound like you had a blast. I love London! You look great in front of that telephone box too!

I have been trying for ages to leave a comment but you have the hardest security words show up in the world!!! two words with caps and punctuation and swirly shapes all together!!!

I am going to delete my finally successful one with the typo and send this one. Wish me luck.

  13. Interesting and not (really) relevant fact: I used to work in that duty free shop on HTRW Terminal 1... :)

  14. great before after pic....in the first pic you look like you wish the phonebooth would swallow you whole...sorry the greasy hamburger looks gross but I will take you word on it!

  15. I wanted to stop by to say that I love your blog, and it truly helps to read your story and feel connected to other people who are/have gone through WLS. Thank you for sharing with the rest of us!

  16. Glad you had a great time.
