What's on your shopping list?

I made a quick stop at the grocery store today to pick up a few items. I didn't have time to check out the produce, but I usually pick up spinach, arugula, other greens.

How different my shopping list is these days (compared with 8+ months ago).

I've learned to bring home only healthy stuff, so I am not tempted. If I really want something that is a trigger food for me (Cold Stone Ice Cream for example) I go out and eat it and be done with it, not bringing it into the house for further temptation...

From Left to Right:
  • Flour Fajita-Size Tortillas (i put one in the oven to make crispy, then top/spread with stuff)
  • Evaporated milk to make one of my usuals: custard - See this POST for a tasty recipe
  • Cottage Cheese (must be Knudsen, I'm a cottage cheese freak)
  • Chobani Vanilla Greek yogurt (16g of protein!)
  • Eggs
  • Skim Milk
  • Genisoy Soy crisps, sea salted, kinda like mini rice cakes (yum, seriously)
  • Hummus
PS: today's confession: I ate TWO chocolate truffles at work...each are 170 calories....sigh.

  1. I've noticed the same thing about my shopping habits. Much less processed foods and more fresh items. I found lower carb tortillas and I just fell in love with Greek yogurt this week if I add fresh blueberries. Yum! Don't fret about the truffles. We all need to indulge sometimes!

  3. I feel you on the truffles. I had some ice cream last week, and I swear . . .I felt myself getting fatter.

  4. I LOVE, LOVE cottage cheese! It goes well with everything!!! Delish on top of my baked potato!!! Our grocery cart is a lot healthier too, aside from the few odds & ends the teenagers throw in. :)

Printed out your custard recipe...another fave!

  6. Where are the fresh veggies?! Fresh fruit?

If I were you, I wouldn't beat yourself up over the truffles. I eat chocolate nearly every day! Depriving yourself of what you like is nonsense, and clearly you don't have 340 calories worth of truffles every day, do you? It's okay to have a treat sometimes! All you do is adjust the rest of your day's calories accordingly. Fix yourself a low-calorie and veggie-filled dinner to make up some of the calories. Easy as pie!

Ah HUMMUS. Serious yum. I'm eating some now!
