Food Porn?

I hope everyone had a great Halloween! I'm feeling so much better these days. I think I really turned the corner on pain and feeling queezzy around day 9. So all you recent post ops out there, I promise, it does get better! :)

I am still doing the full liquid diet until Tuesday, then I start on Mushies...Cottage cheese here I come! Any other ideas/recipes for the mushies stage you can share with me?

Before being banded, I would avoid watching cooking TV shows (food porn) because they would make me hungry (head hunger of course), but now I LOVE to watch any and all TV cooking shows....especially the food network. Why is this? Perhaps if I can't eat it, at least I can watch it? hmmm....I'll have to think about this issue an figure it out more.

Here's a late Halloween photo of my kitty!

  2. All doctors are different about what you can eat during mushies but I loved: mashed potatoes (I just used instant and added broth) avocado mashed, egg salad with light mayo, SF pudding, ff refried beans (can thin), ff ricotta with tomato sauce.

  3. So glad you're feeling better :) Mushie recipes hmmm ok.... you ready? lol
    Blended fresh or tinned fruit
    Smoothies (blended milk and fruit)
    Low fat, low sugar custard
Soggy breakfast cereal (no fruit lumps)
    Thin porridge
    Very thick soups
    Runny scrambled eggs
Mashed fish with low fat white sauce
Mash the fish with mashed potatoes (I used instant potatos :)
Hope some of these ideas helped

  4. I'm so glad you crossed the threshold !! It'll be awesome from here on out. Some of my favorites for mushies were:
-Pureed lentils (yum, yum and tons of protein)
-Mashed green plantains ( we call it Mangu)
    - Refried beans with a lil salsa and cheese
    - I once added mashed potatoes to refired beans ( you get creative after you're on mushies for more than 5 days) and it tasted REALLY good.
    - We're big bean eaters so I made a pot of red beans and black beans and just pureed it
    - Chilli (meatless) is also really good just make sure to mash any beans on the roof of your mouth

  6. I'm so glad to read this and hear you say that the pain started to subside around day 9.. I'm on Day 7 and thought I was the only one out there that is still in pain and have been feeling quite sorry for myself! So thank you soo much for making me feel better about things!! I can't wait to get to mushies!!!
